The role of project in formation of written cross-cultural communication by means of electronic technology is examined, the essence of e-mail technology is disclosed, the process of forming cross-cultural competence of students by means of postal technology is described.

Now the basic value in the course of foreign-language education in language higher education institution is gained by a problem of development in students of ability to cross-cultural communication. In this regard one of the main tasks of modern methodical science is formation of sociolinguistic competence. Need of formation of sociolinguistic competence of students of language higher education institution on material of electronic and post projects is caused by the changes happening to a linguo social that as a result of an intensification of the international contacts leads to increase in a share of computer communication both in business, and in the private sphere. This process causes need of development in students of ability competently and effectively to use technical capabilities of this communicative environment.
The use of e-mail-projects allows to form abilities and skills, to deepen and expand knowledge: the ability to produce own statements, taking into account the peculiarities of the structural organization of messages in the e-mail format, and to perceive such messages from the communication partner; the ability to establish and maintain contact with the interlocutor; the ability to select the appropriate language forms according to the established communication style and the rules of network etiquette; ability to operate with a set of social and situational roles; deepening of background sociocultural knowledge about the country of the language being studied; Expansion of knowledge of students in professional and personal plans.
Use of information technologies, in particular e-mail, gives to students an opportunity of real communication with native speakers that is an important condition in the course of formation of sociolinguistic competence, and quite design technology which was widely adopted now allows teachers to organize new design activity of students on form and content. Thus, it is possible to speak about need of the organization of design training for formation of competences.
L.A. Nefedova and N.M. Ukhova note: the relevance of formation of competences of design training is caused by the fact that in a modern education system a priority is not highly specialized knowledge, but formation of the main types of key competences (information, design, estimated, communicative). One of solutions of this problem consists in application of a design method of training at which the most part of time is found for a research [1, page 61]. Using a design method in combination with information technologies in the course of formation of sociolinguistic competence, it is necessary to specify essence of this concept. In this article we suggest to understand the specified competence as integrative ability of communicants to modify language forms according to features of a situation and context of communication in excellent from own to a linguisicial, also including possession of variability of language, background knowledge and various speech strategy in process of communicative activity with representatives of other culture of language. What does the popularity the project consist in ache technologies in foreign-language education? As A.N. Schukin fairly notes, «the detailed design which designers should execute, directly connects process of language acquisition with mastering certain subject knowledge and an opportunity to really use this knowledge in practice. Thus, orientation to creation of the project as personal educational product does process of mastering subject knowledge personally significant for the student, personally motivated» [2, page 263, 265].
In my opinion, need of introduction in practice of foreign-language formation of electronic and post projects is explained by the fact that use of new information technologies in educational process allows accurately, is structured, mobile to organize vigorous cognitive activity of students, to optimize, intensify educational process, to increase the volume of informative information which seize on occupation and which makes personal sense for students, to increase interest in a learning of foreign language, to seize strategies of development for inner world of the student, updating of his extraordinary and creative abilities, etc. that, undoubtedly, will lead to inclusion of new components in educational activity of students, will help to seize information competences in practice.
I sought to show essence of e-mail of projects in cross-cultural aspect, namely students from the different countries of the world during our research had an opportunity to perform detailed designs of sociolinguistic orientation, to correspond with peers, to use e-mail for exchange of information on subject of projects.
E-mail represents the educational and informative joint activity based on the computer mediated communication of designers and teachers – the project coordinators who are at distance from each other and having a common goal which comes down to a research of a certain problem by means of in advance chosen research methods.
N.N. Prudnikova notes that the organization е promotes promotes formation of debatable culture of students. The question connected with theoretical development and practical introduction е is represented it is represented especially important in the light of application of communicative opportunities of means of the Internet [3, page.15].
I agree with a position of the author of this statement. Really, e-mail which is the main means of the organization of project work within е, is aimed at development of a written language, and from this point of view ability «to talk», i.e. «formation of debatable culture», can present a certain difficulty.
However it would be desirable to note the fact that in the present article the sociolinguistic competence is considered by us from positions of communicative and activity approach. The main attention was paid by us to acquisition of a written language that in the course of exchange of letters by e-mail pre-delivers to students an opportunity to communicate in the real content caused communicative situations.
Prospects of this research consist in further development of the question connected with formation of sociolinguistic competence with use of information and communication technologies in a detail of e-mail, specification and addition of the made conclusions. The results received following the results of work can be used in the course of language education of students of language specialties and also to serve as a reference point for development of additional educational and methodical grants on the specified discipline in language higher education institutions of other profile.
